My Story

Failing to type
It started with failing a typing test with Royal Bank of Canada at their head office downtown Toronto. So I didn’t get the job. I decided to go north instead to Amex, whose offices at the time were surrounded by farmland. You could say I started to ‘type’ for Amex instead.
Amex's masterclass
My temp job at Amex turned into a 17-year masterclass in how organisations function.
Starting as a temp in the Microfiche Department (a forgotten art form) through Customer and Merchant Services, to the Learning Centre, I finally ended up in the UK in Financial Services Europe. I was exposed not to one department but the whole ecosystem, from
-
the mailroom to the fraud department
-
new accounts to new product launches
I worked on a wide variety of high value projects that included building new businesses and business units.

Fun fact: The Amex building in Markham, Ontario was so futuristic it was used in part of an episode of the 1990s Robocop TV series.

An achievement leads to moving shores
My proudest achievement was being part of the team that designed and implemented the first internet only savings bank, winning us American Express’s ‘The Chairman’s Award for Quality’.
As a result of this I was transferred to the UK.
Seeking to work with and get exposure to SMEs, I left Amex to work with a global business coaching firm which enabled me to learn about the challenges and opportunities they face, and how to support them.

International perspective
I was born and grew up in Guyana, South America, moved to Canada and studied at the University of Toronto, worked at Amex for close to 13 years before, with one week’s notice I packed up my bags and relocated to London, England. My ties to all three countries remain very strong providing me with clients, connections, and collaborations across three continents.
My passion is personal service, and I value collaboration, being courageous, and trustworthy.
I started Tracy G Consulting in 2020 and I haven’t looked back.

The common thread among
my clients
My clients are business owners who are quietly growing their businesses. They are wise, brave, capable, have built something meaningful, and know there’s more potential.
The piece they are all missing is structure, not a cookie cutter, one size fits all, rather a bespoke process that is shaped to how their business works. I provide the missing piece.

Collaboration is key
I take a holistic, performance-focused view, listening carefully, connecting the dots, simplifying what may seem complex, and shaping your institutional knowledge into something structured and sustainable as teams grow and change.
My gift is my ability to work in both the big picture (vision) and small detail so that you end up with something tangible, documented knowledge, a working system, or a clear roadmap.
